ABOUT MARTIN CLOTHES

MARTIN Clothes grew out of a need for Anne Johnston Albert to make wearable, yet understatedly sexy clothes for herself and her friends. The first piece was an asymmetric summer skirt that was scooped by Harper’s Bazaar. More and more pieces followed, including the coveted plain, dark and perfectly fitting MARTIN jeans.

Soon MARTIN was a cult favorite. A must have label for fashion editors and celebrities alike. In May 2000, Albert opened her store on East 6th Street in New York City. It quickly became the destination for cool clothes hunters searching for simple pieces with a twist.

After two kids and a longing for fresh air, Johnston Albert closed shop, packed up the family and moved to Great Barrington, Massachusetts, much to the dismay of her fans. After lots of begging from loyal customers and friends, Albert decided to make a small capsule collection for Summer, and Winter, and of course, the famous reissued MARTIN jeans.
